Pyrmont 33°52"29.89"S, 151°11"46.86"E used to be an important industrial waterfront, with wharves, shipbuilding yards, factories and woolstores, CSR had a major sugar refinery here also. As industry moved out, the population and the area declined. During the last couple of decades there has been a lot of new residential development in Pyrmont with the population increasing markedly.
